Talk 18: More Counsels of Elder Paisios of Mount Athos
With the increasing popularity of Elder Paisios’ counsels, this talk offers further insight into the Elder’s deep understanding of Christian life and struggle and the obstacles that arise to hinder us from the path to salvation.
Some of the questions answered in this talk: Why is it important for family members to have the same spiritual father? How does sleep help depression? Can strict spiritual fathers negatively affect their spiritual children? How can possessed people be helped? Are those who by nature are not easily inclined to sin spiritually rewarded? Why is it unwise to be glued to one’s parents? What is meant by the demon of television? Why should parents be careful not to praise their children too highly? How can negative traits possibly benefit one’s spiritual life? How does God judge those who in their youth acquired sinful habits and behaviors through their parents’ bad example? Can cursing have an evil effect? Can medication help those with mental illnesses?
